Answer: A day when you're on the run most of the day, plus you have a little one at home stealing your food.
It was a rough day diet-wise, but I pulled through. Since Toddler started cheder today, and I was told to take him @1:00, I didn't really have the peace of mind and the time I normally have in the morning to prepare and eat good food. He nabbed half of my omelette and half of my bread, and I had no patience to make more. My midmorning snack was a rushed energy bar. Toddler was tearing the house apart, so I decided to take him to the park and from there to cheder. Dropping him off to his new daytime home for the next 10 or so years, IYH, was a wonderful and happy experience. But by the time I was done talking to the manager about transportation, and dropping into the computer store to download some more podcasts, I arrived home at 2:15, famished beyond belief. I was so happy to already have ready cut up veggies to mix into a salad, and a hasty smear of peanut butter on whole wheat bread accompanied my salad. Before I had a chance to eat my fill, both boys were home already, and I still hadn't begun supper. Dealing with the boys after school/cheder was taxing and exhausting and I was still really hungry. While I cooked supper I chomped on an apple and chowed down baby carrots. I *finally* made a Letcho for supper: cooking spray, onion, celery, multiple colors peppers, and tomatoes. But the supper for my kids was my quick fix: cubed chicken with potatoes and frankfurters. In an abundanc e of oil. There was no time to come up with an alternate supper for myself. Since I hadnt had a second starchy snack today, I hoped it would be okay if I ate from this dish. I drained off as much oil as I could, and ate a small amount of the potatoes, almost no franks, and plenty of chicken.
My friend's daughter's tenoyim is tonight. Going to simchos when on diet is really tricky. I dont think any of the rich desserts there will qualify as a less-than-115 calorie treat. So the plan is to steer clear of all the yummy miniatures, eat some fruit, and treat myself to my own low calorie treat when I come home. I hope the plan works!
